Dr. Lidia Monza forscht seit 2013 am Institut für Humangeographie im Bereich der Geographischen Stadtforschung. Ihr Forschungsschwerpunkt ist unter anderem die Entstehung von privaten Urbanitätsformen, die sich als Antworten auf die ortsspezifische Krise der Stadt darstellen. Der weitere Forschungsfokus ist auf Regulationsstrukturen gerichtet. Gezeigt werden soll, wie die gewünschte Sozialordnung alltäglich durch das Management (re)produziert wird. Darüber hinaus interessiert sie sich für Themen der Stadtforschung, wie Stadt- und Regionalentwicklungspolitik und deren Maßnahmen, sowie der Sozial- und Kulturgeographie.
Gefördert durch die Hans-Böckler-Stiftung (2013-2016) promovierte Lidia Monza 2016 zum Thema „Urbane Visionen von Master-planned Communities: Milano 2 (Italien) und Celebration (Florida) als Leitbilder neuer Sozialordnungen.“ Zuvor studierte sie Geographie der Globalisierung am Institut für Humangeographie in Frankfurt (Master) und Geistes-, Umwelt- und Landwissenschaften in Mailand (Bachelor).

In her research Dr. Lidia Monza studies the establishment of privatized urban forms that pretend to answer to the urban crisis. Moreover is the focus of her research on the regulations structures in order to show how those urban forms are daily (re)produced. She was sponsored from the Hans-Böckler Foundation (2013-2016) and in November 2016 she defended her thesis “urban vision of master-planned communities: Milano 2 (Italy) and Celebration (Florida) as model of new social order”. Other research issues of the urban studies are urban and regional development strategies as well themes of social and cultural geography. Previously she studied geography of globalization at the Institute of Human geography in Frankfurt (Master) and Human-, Environment and landscape science at the University of Milan (Bachelor).

Nella sua corrente ricerca la Dottoressa di Ricerca Lidia Monza si è occupata di forme urbane privatizzate che si propongono come risposta alla crisi della città. Il focus della ricerca finora condotta si pone sulle strutture organizzative e di regolazione degli apparati amministrativi, con lo scopo di mostrare come l´ordine sociale desiderato è prodotto e riprodotto costantemente tramite il lavoro quotidiano dell´amministrazione. Borsista della fondazione Hans-Böckler Stiftung la dottoressa Monza ha discusso nel novembre 2016 la tesi di dottorato dal titolo “visioni urbane delle master-planned communities: Milano 2 (Italia) e Celebration (Florida) come modelli di un nuovo ordine sociale” (in tedesco). Tra gli altri ambiti della ricerca urbana si elencano le politiche di sviluppo urbano e regionale così come temi di geografia sociale e culturale. Precedentemente la dottoressa Monza ha conseguito la laurea magistrale in “geografia della globalizzazione” presso l´istituto di geografia umana di Francoforte (Master) e prima ancora la laurea in “scienze umane per l´ambiente, il territorio e il paesaggio” presso l´Università degli Studi Milano Statale (laurea triennale).
