Terrestrial paleoclimate response during the Eo-Oligocene transition in SW Nebraska

Task: Constructing a stable isotope (δ18O, δ13C) record of two sections (Nebraska, USA) that span the Eocene-Oligocene transition

Working steps: sample preparation of pedogenic carbonates; mass spectrometric analysis (Finnigan Gas-Bench and MAT 253 mass spectrometer); data reduction and interpretation

Can we trace long-term terrestrial paleoclimatic shifts within paleosols?

Task: Evaluate stable isotope (δ18O, δ13C) records of Miocene root casts in comparison with their hosting paleosols (Idaho, USA)

Working steps: sample preparation of root casts and pedogenic carbonates; mass spectrometric analysis (Finnigan Gas-Bench and MAT 253 mass spectrometer); data reduction and interpretation

Your own project

Task: Come up with your own project idea. We are willing to support and supervise your research related to paleoclimate or paleoenvironmental studies using stable isotopes, clumped isotopes, and/or biomarker as proxies.

Working steps: prepare methods, hypothesis (max. 1/2 page) and come and talk to us.
