Manfred Schubert-Zsilavecz

Manfred Schubert-Zsilavecz has been a professor at the Institute of Pharmaceutical Chemistry at Goethe University since 1997 and currently directs a research group of 10 to 15 postdoctoral and graduate students. A native of Austria, he studied Pharmacy at Karl-Franzens University Graz, where he received his PhD in 1989. After completing postdoctoral studies at Bayreuth University, he joined the Faculty of Chemistry at Ulm University as an Erwin Schrödinger Fellow (1992-1993). He is a co-founder and member of the scientific board of the biotechnological research company Phenion and member of the board of the Center for Drug Research, Development and Safety (ZAFES). In 2003 Schubert-Zsilavecz was appointed scientific director of the Central Laboratory of German Pharmacists and he is currently president of the German Pharmaceutical Society (DPhG). He is married and has five children.
