Hauptbahnhof_250x150

Important: if you have reserved a room in the dormatories! On the day of arrival, you will need to open a German bank account, sign your rental contract and move in the student dormitories.

Bank Account

As mentioned, it is absolutely essential to open a German bank account in order to move in the student dormitories. The reason behind opening a German bank account lies in the mere fact that the dormitory administration needs to collect the monthly rent. To help ease the process of opening an account, we have listed some banks below which are near the university to serve as a guide Please keep in mind that you will be opening a “student checking account” (Girokonto für Studierende ), which entitles you to special conditions.

To open a bank account, you will need a valid identification document (i.e. Passport).

Moving into the Dormitory/Rental Contracts

The dormitory administration, which is part of Student Affairs Office (Studentenwerk), is located in Room 319/320 (3rd Floor) on the Bockenheimer Landstr. 133.

The responsible persons for rental and rental contracts are Ms. Hamm, Ms. Brandenstein, and Ms. Weser.

Important! You should have a minimum balance of 500€ in your bank account so that you can pay your security deposit. Just to remind you, the security deposit is a required element of a rental contract that you signed. When you move in to your dormitory, you need to wire the security deposit along with the first month’s rent to the dormitory administration’s bank account. A standing order (Dauerauftrag) for wire transfers can be arranged at your bank so that the rent can be collected monthly from your account automatically on a prearranged date (i.e. end of the month).

Dormitories’ Hours of Operation:

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday: 10.00 – 12.00
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday: 13.00 – 15.00

After signing the rental contract, you can proceed to the dormitory. Please show the concierge (Hausmeister) a copy of the payment receipt for the security deposit and rent. At this point, he will indicate your room information.

ATTENTION: The key can be picked up until 14.00 in the reception.
