SeiteninhaltInsuranceFor your stay in Germany, we would strongly urge you to obtain health insurance (Krankenversicherung) and, if applicable, personal liability insurance (Haftpflichtversicherung).Health InsuranceFor the issuance of a residency permit (Aufenthaltserlaubnis), insurance is a general requirement. Authorities usually require insurance polices which cover also costs for psychological therapy and pregnancy. In Germany, medication, doctor visits, and hospital stays are very expensive. Before you leave for Germany, check with your insurance carrier if all medical costs will be covered during your stay here. If this is not the case, then you need to purchase health insurance in Germany. The cost of medical insurance varies greatly depending on the insurance provider. It might be a good idea to shop around for insurance. There is, among others, the PROVISIT insurance by the travel insurance agency Dr. Walter GmbH and the ADAC (suitable for stays of a few months' duration).Personal Liability InsuranceIn Germany, everyone is liable for third party damages. It might be worth it to explore purchasing a personal liability insurance which, in the case of an accident, the cost damages incurred will be reimbursed by the insurance provider.
