Molecular Developmental Biology

Head of the group Molecular Developmental Biology is Heinz D. Osiewacz. Before moving in 1994 to the Goethe-University he was head of the research program Molecular Biology of Aging Processes at the German Cancer Research Center in Heidelberg.
From January 2010 to June 2013 he was coordinator of  GerontoMitoSys

From January 2005 to December 2009 he was coordinator of the Integrated European Project MiMage (Role of Mitochondria in Conserved Mechanisms of Ageing,

Main research activities of the group Molecular Developmental Biology are:

dot_red1 Mitochondrial quality control
dot_red1 Role of programmed cell death in degenerative processes of the filamentous fungus Podospora anserina
dot_red1 Molecular mechanisms of copper homeostasis

Members of the scientific research group are Andrea Hamann (Postdoc), Andrea Weil (Postdoc), Dominik Bernhardt, Fabian Fischer, Carolin Grimm, Laura Knuppertz, Piet Kramer, Oliver Philipp,  Verena Warnsmann and Matthias Wiemer (PhD students), Gabriele Seelbach, Alexandra Werner (technicians) and Barbara Tarazi (office).
