GRADE Initiative "Learning in Spiking Neural Networks"

Focus and general goals

This initiative provides a platform for cross-disciplinary exchange around the topic of learning in spiking neural networks. We approach this topic from both the perspective of neuroscience and artificial intelligence. Relevant keywords are synaptic plasticity, network stability, learning algorithms, homeostasis, critical activity regimes, dynamic connectome, simulation environments and neuromorphic hardware.

Activities

The initiative organizes events to connect relevant research groups in the Rhein-Main area. Currently most events are virtual and take place on Zoom.

  • Journal Club: A regular, bi-weekly meeting, discussing novel research in the field. We normally meet on Fridays at 11:00.

  • Invited Talks: We invite international speakers to present their current research. These events will be publicly announced.

  • Shut-up-and-write: Short and regular writing sessions during which participants commit to spend time to a freely chosen writing project. We normally meet every week-day at 15:30 and write for about 45 minutes.
