Kurzbeschreibung:
The research project "Learning Democracy in Europe. Analyzing and improving the interplay between learning and organizing democracy” (coordinated by Nicolas Engel, Andreas Walther, Helge Kminek, all GU Frankfurt am Main), funded by the German Ministry of Education and Research, supports the establishment of an international consortium to submit a proposal of the collaborative project L|OD in the area of "Global Challenges and European Industrial Competitiveness" of the interim programme Horizon Europe, "Destination 1 - Innovative Research on Democracy and Governance" in particular the draft Call "Reshaping democracies. Horizon-CL2-2022-Democracy: Education for democracy".

Referring to the interdependence of Learning Democracy and Organizing Democracy, the project aims at the dialectic between (i) “learning democracy” and (ii) “learning in democracy” which is always framed and constituted by processes of organizing, and organizing democracy, which depends on and consists in settings, occasions and processes of transformative learning. Analysis therefore needs to concentrate on what conditions and occasions are supportive for learning democracy.

L|OD is based on a threefold perspective: individual and collaborative learning processes in and in relation to democracy (resp. democratic organizations), the learning and development of democratic organizations, and the transformation of democratic orders and institutions in the interrelation of individual, collective and organizational learning.
