vorerst befristet
bis zum 30.06.2024 zur Mitarbeit im Verbundprojekt FIDIUM (Föderierte Digitale
Infrastrukturen für die Erforschung von Universum und Materie) zu besetzen. Die
Eingruppierung richtet sich nach den Tätigkeitsmerkmalen des für die
Goethe-Universität geltenden Tarifvertrags (TV-G-U).
Im Kontext des
FIDIUM-Projekts, in dem Beiträge zur effizienten Ressourcennutzung großer
föderierter Computing-Infrastrukturen gefördert werden, tragen Sie mit neuen
Ideen zur Anwendung innovativer digitaler Methoden zum Fortschritt in der
Grundlagenforschung bei. Die Erforschung von Teilchen, Materie und Universum
hat bereits zu bedeutenden Entwicklungen im Bereich von
Computinggrid-Technologien geführt und schafft die Grundlage für Technologien
von morgen und übermorgen. Im Fokus der Aufgaben steht hier die
Weiterentwicklung effizienter Strategien zum Caching großer Datenmengen unter
Nutzung heterogener Ressourcen.
Einstellungsvoraussetzungen sind
ein abgeschlossenes wissenschaftliches Hochschulstudium, vorzugsweise
promovierte Wissenschaftler*innen (Informatik/Physik) mit Expertise auf dem
Gebiet des verteilten wissenschaftlichen Rechnens. Insbesondere ist Erfahrung
mit in der Hochenergiephysik eingesetzten Containertechnologien,
Ressourcenmanagement- und Datenmanagementsystemen von Vorteil. Ein gutes
Verständnis von HPC- und Cloud-Systemen wird vorausgesetzt. Die Tätigkeit
schließt die Erstellung von Publikationen und wissenschaftlichen Vorträgen ein.
Es wird erwartet, dass der*die Stelleninhaber*in die Fähigkeit zu
selbstständigem wissenschaftlichem Arbeiten in einem kollaborativen Umfeld
mitbringt.

There is a full-time position available immediately until
June 30, 2024 for a Research Associate (m/f/d) (E13
TV-G-U) at the Goethe University Frankfurt am Main in the
Department of Computer Science and Mathematics,
Institute for Computer Science. This is a joint project known
as FIDIUM (federated digital infrastructures for the
exploration of universe and matter). The classification
is based on the job description of the collective agreement
(TV-G-U) applicable to the Goethe University.In the
context of the FIDIUM project, in which contributions to the efficient use of
resources of large, federated computing infrastructures are funded, the
successful applicant will contribute to progress in basic research with new
ideas for the application of innovative digital methods. The exploration of
particles, matter and the universe has already led to significant developments
in the field of computing grid technologies and creates the basis for the
technologies of tomorrow and beyond. The focus of the tasks here is the further
development of efficient strategies for caching large amounts of data using
heterogeneous resources.
Prerequisites for employment are a completed scientific
university degree, preferably a doctorate (computer
science/physics) with expertise in the field of
distributed scientific computing. In particular, experience with container
technologies, resource management and data management systems used in
high-energy physics is an advantage. A good understanding of HPC and cloud
systems is required. The activity includes the preparation of publications and
scientific talks. It is expected that the job holder will have the ability to
work independently and scientifically in a collaborative environment.
