Goethe Welcome Centre

Goethe Welcome Centre (GWC) is the central non-academic advice centre and service facility for:

  • International professors
  • International postdoctoral researchers
  • International doctoral candidates enrolled at the university
  • International doctoral candidates with a university employment contract

GWC provides comprehensive support from a single source for you and your family. You can find a full list of the servicesoffered on the centre's website.  

Please make sure to fill in the GWC-online registration form, which you will find on the website, to receive support in the best possible way.

Family Service at the Equal Opportunities Office

The Family Service at the Equal Opportunities Office is the central facility of Goethe University Frankfurt for the cross-cutting topic of reconciling studies, academic career and family responsibilities. In the framework of consultations, it provides an overview of the advisory services and referrals available, gives initial guidance and helps you to find the right contact persons for your concerns.

It is also responsible for handling your registration for our childcare facilities.

  • Reconciliation of family, studies and career
  • Help with finding childcare at the university and in Frankfurt
  • Advice specifically for research associates (Academic Fixed-Term Contract Act (WissZeitVG))
  • Problems related to pregnancy, maternity protection and parental leave
  • Holiday childcare
  • Referrals to municipal counselling centres and socio-educational support services
  • Help with finding childcare for internal events

  • Advice specifically for (expectant) fathers
  • Advice for foreign nationals with families
  • Childcare at Goethe University Frankfurt
  • Reconciliation of family responsibilities and studies
  • Conflicts in relation to pregnancy, maternity protection and parental leave

Goethe Research Academy for Early Career Researchers (GRADE)

GRADE aims to provide doctoral candidates and postdocs with individual support and an opportunity to enhance their personal skills, as well as with expertise to prepare themselves for their future careers. The range of services includes workshops, networking events and individual coaching sessions. Doctoral candidates and postdocs from all faculties at Goethe University are invited to become members of GRADE.
