Keeping a Cool Head in Turbulent Times

Managing your emotions for a stress-free daily (study) routine

Do you sometimes react to situations impulsively with an emotional outburst and then feel guilty about it? Or do you sometimes get the blues and not really know why? Do you sometimes get angry and not know what to do about it?

Join this workshop and learn how to better understand and use your emotions. We will look at how to keep a cool head in critical situations. Take away tools to actively use your emotions instead of letting them control you.

Topics:
  • How emotions arise and the factors that influence them
  • Identifying personal trigger points and disrupting automatic actions
  • Incorporating negative emotions as important cues in your own action management
  • Self-regulation strategies to defuse situations and regain composure
  • Mindfulness, distancing and change of perspective as strategies to promote composure

Goals:
  • Understanding and controlling your own emotions
  • Keeping and projecting a cool head even in critical situations
  • Dealing constructively with anger and rage in order to continue to act in a self-directed and thoughtful manner and to achieve individual goals
