Reporting office for university accidents involving students

Accidents that are causally related to attending the university (work-related or commuting accidents in accordance with the Social Security Code [SGB] VII) must be reported as university accidents to the university. After verifying the completeness of the accident report, the university forwards it to the Accident Insurance Fund of Hesse (Unfallkasse Hessen - UKH).

Activities that are insured include those performed in direct temporal and spatial connection with the university and its facilities and are attributable to the organizational responsibility of the university, such as:

  • attendance at classes, including breaks
  • visiting other university facilities (university libraries, seminars)
  • participation in general university sports
  • participation in excursions under the supervision of a university professor
  • traveling to or from the location where the university event takes place

Activities related to studies and work in the private or domestic sphere are not covered, even if they are necessary for exam preparation. Prompt written notification of the accident to Goethe University is a prerequisite for benefits under the statutory accident insurance.

Please fill out the accident report (in German) form completely in your browser, then print and sign it, and send it to the Reporting Office for University Accidents at the following address:
