Scholarships

Your personal qualifications are the key to choosing a scholarship!

#lohntsich

A scholarship can provide financial support for your education or training at any stage of your studies. Scholarships are available to a wide range of high school, undergraduate, and graduate students. Whether based on need, talent, field of study, or background, there is a good chance you'll find a scholarship that is right for you.

Most scholarships are awarded by foundations (Stiftungen), which can have different profiles. Depending on the foundation's focus - politics, labor, religion, society, or business - they all have their own criteria for selecting applicants. For example, determining factors may include athletic achievement, artistic talent, political involvement, personal need, or religious affiliation. Other considerations may be community service, academic performance, chosen field, or place of study.

There are a lot of misconceptions about scholarships that can limit your chances of receiving financial and academic support.

You might think that scholarships are only for especially gifted, ambitious, or needy students. Think again! There are a variety of eligibility criteria, ranging from field of study to denomination to place of birth.

Perhaps you believe that there are only a few scholarship providers? There are more than you think! Besides the 13 major scholarship providers, there are over 1,700 foundations in Germany. Many of these scholarship providers even have a hard time finding suitable candidates.

But isn't it too complicated and time-consuming to apply for a scholarship? Not at all! Frequently, the first step is just to submit a resume and a motivation letter.
