Making a good decision about your studies and degree program is crucial, and it depends on having the right information. However, simply relying on unfiltered information from the Internet can easily leave you overwhelmed and confused. Instead of trying to gather as much information as possible, it's important to focus on the information that is relevant to you. This is where the events at Goethe University can be extremely helpful, as they provide the necessary information and support you throughout the different phases of making a good decision.

If you're currently in 9th or 10th grade and trying to decide which courses to take, particularly in subjects like math, computer science, natural sciences, or medicine, Tag der Naturwissenschaften (Science Day) is designed just for you. Science Day offers a wide range of engaging activities such as experiments, hands-on stations, guided tours, and captivating lectures that provide insights into a wide range of study programs. The main goal of Science Day is to address any uncertainties you may have about pursuing the natural sciences and to give you an opportunity to explore what the field has to offer beyond the school curriculum.

Want to get a firsthand experience of what it's really like to study at university? If so, the Schnuppertagen (Discovery Days) are the perfect opportunity for you. You can organize a two-day visit to Goethe University through your school for your academic year, course or class group. This visit will give you a chance to participate in real lectures, seminars, and exercises and immerse yourself in the authentic university environment. Even if you come on your own, we encourage you to join a class visit and be part of the experience.

If you're in the final stages of your high school diploma and want to get an overview of the study programs suitable for you, consider attending the MainStudy event at the end of January. The MainStudy offers lectures that cover prerequisites, requirements, and content of approximately 145 bachelor and state examination programs. Additionally, you'll have the chance to explore different subjects through institute tours, lab tours, discussions with students and professors, as well as experimental and information booths. Complementing the MainStudy offerings, the Bundesagentur für Arbeit (federal employment agency) will also give presentations on professional practice and opportunities for transitioning between your school graduation and university studies.

On the journey to making informed study or career decisions, you'll need to conduct thorough research and process a lot of information. At some point, you may feel like you're in over your head. That's why it's essential to seek assistance from experts: No matter the future path you may be interested in, there are numerous advisory offices and contact points that can help you navigate the information overload.

If you have any questions regarding the selection of a study program at Goethe University, the Student Advisory Service is the ideal resource for individual, in-person consultations. Whether you need support in decision-making, information about specific courses of study, or guidance on the application process, our dedicated student advisors are available to address your specific needs.

Still unsure about studying at Goethe University and want to explore alternative study options at other universities, dual study programs, or apprenticeships? In this case, you can find valuable advice and guidance at the Agentur für Arbeit (employment agency).

Maybe you have already decided that pursuing an apprenticeship before potentially pursuing further studies is the best option? You should then reach out to the Industrie- und Handelskammer (Chamber of Industry and Commerce) or the Handwerkskammer  (Chamber of Crafts). It's worth bearing in mind that Goethe University also provides vocational training opportunities!
