  • Previous award winners will not be considered.

Criteria for awarding the prize:

The basic requirement is that the teacher is distinguished by the following:

1. sustainable and innovative teaching

- inspire students for the subject

- and/or are supported by supplementary teaching offerings,

The preparation, quality and content of your nomination are decisive for its potential success.

A committee that represents various university status groups selects three prize winners. The committee consists of students nominated by the Senate, academic staff and professors of the university as well as a member of the management of the Foundation of the Frankfurter Sparkasse.

Your proposal should specifically address the following points:

The justification of the proposal for your candidate must be comprehensible to all members of the committee (including those outside the field) and must refer explicitly to the criteria for the award. If it is not clear which criteria the nominated person fulfills, your proposal is not well justified. Please keep in mind that there are very good teachers in many disciplines. Therefore, it is important that you clearly articulate the particular skills that distinguish your candidate from others and make him/her especially worthy of the award.

The proposal should be based on a broad consensus within your department. This can be done, for example, through a student meeting (Fachschaft), in-class surveys, or online surveys. If possible, please explain in your proposal how you voted on your proposal and how many students participated in the vote. The procedure of voting on the candidate in your subject must be transparent.

Submit your nomination via the following platform: https://tinygu.de/1822-Lehrpreis

The deadline for receipt of proposals is February 28, 2023.

In addition to your proposal, course evaluations submitted by the nominees as well as statements by their respective deans of studies will be taken into consideration. The teaching award team obtains these documents after you have submitted your nomination.

The selection committee will make its decision by April 2023. The award ceremony will take place on Tuesday, July 4, 2023, at 5 p.m. in the Renate von Metzler Hall of the Casino, Westend Campus. You are cordially invited to attend the ceremony and more information will follow in due course.
