My research is situated in the fields of cultural, political and urban geography. Specifically, I am interested in the geographies of violence and necropolitics, urban governance, LGBTQ+ citizenship, postcoloniality and affective geographies. My current research engages with postcolonial power formations in Brazil, far-right politics as well as the German evangelical movement. Since October 2023, I have been Interim Professor at Goethe University Frankfurt, pausing my Assistant Professorship at the University of Bayreuth, where I worked since 2013. In 2021/22, I held an Interim Professorship at TU Dresden, and since 2018 I have been a guest lecturer at UNESP/Presidente Prudente, Brazil. I received my PhD from The Open University in Milton Keynes, UK in 2011. Besides my research and teaching, I have been dedicating time and passion as founding editorial member of the open-access journal on critical urban research 'sub\urban - zeitschrift für kritische stadtforschung'.
