Course content and focus areas | The Master program is the second part of the consecutive Bachelor/Master study in Bioinformatics. It is based on a Bachelor program in Bioinformatics and covers advanced topics from a research and application oriented perspective. The following four topics are obligatory: (1) Sequence Analysis / Data Mining, (2) Network Analysis / Systems Biology, (3) Structure Analysis / Molecular Modeling, and (4) Neuroprocesses / Computational Neurobiology. Additionally there is the possibility to choose from more than 50 elective modules from computer science, biology, mathematics, chemistry, medicine, and biophysics, in order to specalize in one or two research directions or to learn more about the various application disciplines of Bioinformatics. Study abroad is explicitly supported. Moreover, soft-skills, for example teaching a tutorial, advising students in a mentoring program and writing a research grant proposal will be acquired. The study finishes with a Master thesis. |
