Programme
Meteorology is the science of weather and climate. It is deeply rooted in physics and closely connected to chemistry, hydrology, oceanography and geography. Given the enormous influence of the atmosphere on many parts of the Earth system, Meteorology is also an aspect of today's highly topical environmental research.
The international Masters Programme MSc Meteorology offers a wide variety of theoretical and experimental topics and a diverse range of specialisations within the specific research areas of the institute's research groups.
The study programme is built based upon three main elements:
- Basic courses (including two major and several minor courses)
- Specialisation (usually in the scientific area of the Maste'r thesis)
- Master's thesis (actual research in one of the research groups)
The two major courses can be chosen from a total of four topics: MT (Theory), MK (Climate), MG (Boundary Layer) and ME (Experimental Research), which are directly connected to the research groups fields of interest. Additionally, there is a range of optional subjects to choose from to help you shape your individual scientific profile.
