 Multiliteracy

"The concept of multiliteracies is based on two key premises relevant to the current, global educational and social context:

(1) the expanding variety of modes of communication and tools for meaning-making, including the mass media, multimedia, and electronic hypermedia; and

(2) the growing importance of cultural and linguistic diversity as our communities become more globally connected."

(New London Group, 1996).

“Multiliteracy implies the development of functional, visual, and multi-modal literacy, plurilingual awareness, critical thinking, and digital competencies.“

(Elsner, Armbrust, Lohe - MuViT-Group, Frankfurt 2011)
