3D terahertz imaging system with synthetic image reconstruction

The activities in the project include the development of a fully electronic scanning 3D terahertz (THz) imaging system with a synthetic image reconstruction. The advantage of THz imaging systems is their penetration through many materials.

Terahertz Camera for Remote Detection of Material Defects and Biological and Chemical Substances

Imaging at terahertz frequencies has received much attention and has progressed rapidly in the last years due to large-scale funding programs, mainly in US and recently EU, focusing on terrestrial applications such as security enforcement. THz imaging systems offer unique properties of being able to identify objects through a range of materials, excluding metal, and have the ability to identify biological and chemical substances.

Terahertz heterodyne receiver components for future European space missions

The project aims to demonstrate a compact and integrated terahertz receiver, based on European components, suitable for a number of future earth observation and space science missions. Sub-millimetre wave or terahertz heterodyne receivers are key instruments for many space applications

Measurement of Blood Coagulation

In cooperation with Prof. Harder (University Hospital Frankfurt, Department of Clinical Pharmacology) we have developed a new micro-optical prototype for blood coagulation measurements. This project was supported by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy in 2014.
