Overview
Course content and focus areas |
The one year Master’s study course follows on from a four year Bachelor degree programme. It aims to deepen core competencies for scientific work in Latin philology. The programme includes classical studies in general and can so qualify for different professions. Students are enabled to get a deepened knowledge of the ancient culture on the basis of exemplary subjects. A main area of focus is the relation of the Graeco-Roman period with subsequent epochs of European culture. Though the subject of Latin philology is closely related to other classical studies, it differs from them by focusing on methods of linguistics and literary studies and so connects to these scientific fields. The Master’s studies of Latin philology particularly prepare students for further scientific qualification. |
