Tendency. A Theory of Contemporary Literature (planned essay). Tendency argues that the writing of contemporary literature, was and continues to be animated by a split between intervening in the pressing issues of the present (for instance by articulating, configuring, or inciting political struggle and contest) on the one hand, and aesthetically modelling the dynamics, lawfullness, and directionality (social, material, historical) that shape the present on the other.

Invaluable. Literature and Value in the Long Nineteenth Century
The book examines how literature became a cipher for a particular form of value in the wake of Romanticism and the rise of the capitalist value form. It argues that literature comes to be doubly coded as invaluable: extravagant and frivolous, yet inestimable and, to some extent, worthless by standard measures of value. Spanning the rise of the problem of value as a category of political economy (Marx), an ethical-material problem (Nietzsche), an epistemic heuristic (Weber), and as a cultural form (Simmel) in literature and the consolidation of the human sciences between 1830 and 1930, it focuses on three figures of value between romanticism, realism, and modernism: surplus and superfluity, debt and insolvency, and job performance or achivement (Leistung).
