AKS Project

AKS Project

The Academy of Korean Studies supports the field of Korean Studies worldwide to enhance its competitiveness and promote the globalisation of Korean Studies.

For the ongoing project ‚Strengthening the Korean Studies Education Capacity through the Glocalization of Frankfurt Korean Studies’, the Korean Studies of Goethe-University Frankfurt am Main received sponsorship through the Seed Program for Korea Studies. For a period of 3 years (May 2018 to June 2021) the research is focused on ‘Korea and the global society: Engagement and reciprocity’’. Further project areas are the strengthening and expanding of the curriculum as well as links within the local community. A further aim of this project is to strengthen the network with academic institutions in Germany as well as on an international level.

The previous research project ‚Consolidating Frankfurt Korean Studies Trough Teaching and Research on Identity and Transnational Mobility in and out of Korea’ was generously supported by the AKS Seed Program for Korean Studies from 2015 to 2018 and made the successful development of the Korean Studies Frankfurt possible. This positive trajectory will be continued through the new AKS project detailed above.
