  • Medicinal chemistry and pharmacology of nuclear receptors and their natural ligands

  • Design, development and characterization of synthetic nuclear receptor modulators with special emphasis to FXR, RXRs and PPARs

  • Natural product inspired drug discovery

  • Evaluation of orphan nuclear receptors for their (endogenous) ligands and physiological roles

  • Development of tool compounds for orphan nuclear receptors

  • Design of multi-target bioactive compounds

  • Selective optimization of side-activities
