Special regulations due to the current situation (COVID19) for applications to the Master's programmes for this winter term intake 2020/21.

Due to the current situation, the following regulations apply to the application and enrolment procedures for Master's programmes:

Application deadlines

For all the other degree programmes (not mentioned here) the usual application deadlines still apply.

Preliminary admission

(number of Credit Points to be verified)

  • For Master's programmes with non-restricted admissions:
The minimum requirement of completed credit points in an ongoing Bachelor’s study programme of 80% has been reduced to 60%.

  • For Master programmes with restricted admissions:
The minimum requirement of completed credit points in an ongoing Bachelor’s study programme of 80% has been reduced to 70%.

Application documents to be submitted

  • Certification of documents
Applicants with foreign degree have to apply online via uni-assist portal and send certified copies by post to uni-assist. If you are unable to send certified copies by post due to the current situation with the Coronavirus, you have to upload the certified documents in uni-assist portal. In case of a successful application, you will have to submit certfied documents for the enrolment.
Information about certified copies and translation can be found here.

  • Proof of sufficient German language skills:
Proof of adequate German language skills (usually DSH-2 or equivalent) must be submitted by the end of the application period the latest and cannot be submitted at a later stage.

  • Late submission of proof of foreign language skills:
Due to the worldwide pandemic and, consequently, due to the closure of authorities and test centres, international applicants in particular may not be able to fulfil various application requirements (e.g. TOEFL, IELTS, etc.). We accept TOEFL iBT Special Home Edition.
Please enquire with the respective programme conveners if and to what extent required documents (e.g. TOEFL, IELTS) can be submitted after the official deadline.

  • For the following Master's programmes none of the above-mentioned proofs can be submitted after the deadline; they must be submitted by the end of the (possibly extended) application deadline at the latest:

  • Business Administration
  • International Economics and Economic Policy
  • International Management
  • Money and Finance

  • APS (applicants from the People's Republic of China and Vietnam)
The original APS certificate must be submitted as part of the application.
