Victoria van der Land joined the research project Afrikaner*innen im Rhein-Main Gebiet. Ein afrikalinguistisches Forschungsprojekt zu sprachlicher Integration in April 2019 with a DAAD-scholarship. She received her doctorate in sociology from the Goethe-University Frankfurt in 2015, compiling her thesis on migration and climate change in the West African Sahel. In addition, she received a certificate for German as a foreign language from the Philipps-University of Marburg.

Regional expertise is mainly on West Africa (Mali, Senegal, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cote d’Ivoire, Niger), where she gathered extensive research experience and work experience as an expert for monitoring and evaluation for a german development agency. From 2016 to 2019 Victoria van der Land worked as a DAAD-lecturer at the University of Bamako, Mali. Her current research focusses on the acquisition of German language of African migrants in the Rhine-Main-area and their integration into the receiving society.
