The Institute for Occupational, Social and Environmental Medicine of the Faculty of Medicine at Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main is the only academic institution with a professorship of this kind in the state of Hesse. It is part of the Centre of Health Sciences (ZGW, managing director: Prof. Dr. Dr. Groneberg) and is responsible for teaching and research in the fields of occupational and social medicine, environmental medicine, ergonomics and other areas of health protection at the workplace. Medical sociology is also an independent field of work of the institute.

Teaching ranges from the contents of the medical course of studies to postgraduate further education. The physicians and scientific staff working at the Institute are involved in a wide range of research projects aimed at ensuring the health protection of the working population, with interdisciplinary contributions from medical and technical disciplines as well as company practice. The research assistants are involved in student teaching in the medical course of studies and in postgraduate further education.

Within the polyclinic / outpatient clinic a wide range of examinations are offered. Our staff will also be pleased to advise you on any topic related to occupational health and safety. Clinic and research are closely linked at the institute and in the individual outpatient clinics.

The Institute is located in the central part of the Goethe University Hospital on the Frankfurt Niederrad Campus. It is located there in building 9B.
