Shahab Dabaghi




Shahab Dabaghi (full name: Shahaboddin  Dabaghi-Varnosfaderani) is a 'promotion' researcher and external research assistant at the Didactics Department of the Institute for English and American Studies (IEAS), working under the supervision of Professor Daniela Elsner. He completed his undergraduate and master studies in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) and Applied Linguistics. He did his master's thesis on a topic related to music, emotion, working memory, and second/foreign speech processing under the supervision of Professor Mohammadtaghi Shahnazari and Professor Mansoor Tavakoli at the University of Isfahan. He has also been a sessional English teacher, music tutor, and musician. 

His general scientific interests include neuropsychology of language and music, psycholinguistics of L1/L2 and foreign language, and (ethno)musicology, to mention but a few. 

Current research interests and focuses: 

  • Musical interventions and (neuro)psychology of dyslexia and dysgraphia among teenagers in the context of English as a foreign language
  • New technologies, L2/FL reading and writing acquisition and disabilities, and musical methods
  • Cognitive and language-related task performance and music
