Shahab ​​(full name: Shahaboddin Dabaghi-Varnosfaderani) has been a researcher and external research assistant at the Didactics Department of the Institute for English and American Studies (IEAS). Shahab has done research topics related to music, emotion, working memory, and second/foreign speech processing and has been a sessional English teacher, music tutor, and musician. 

Shahab’s interests include neuropsychology of language and music, psycholinguistics of L1/L2 and foreign language, and (ethno)musicology, to mention but a few. 

Current research interests and focuses: 

  • Musical interventions and (neuro)psychology of dyslexia and dysgraphia among teenagers in the context of English as a foreign language
  • New technologies, L2/FL reading and writing acquisition and disabilities, and musical methods
  • Cognitive and language-related task performance and music
