All you need to know!

Upon successful completion of the GRE-Programme, we award between 12 and 18 ECTS credits (depending on the duration and workload of your respective GRE project). In general, an increase of workload and credits is possible and can be discussed with the academic supervisor and our office prior to your GREP application. Upon completion, we will send a certificate of completion (including a grade) and a transcript of records to your home institution.
Spring Intake
  • Application Deadline: December 15th
  • Start Date GREP: March 1st
  • Start of Research Project: April 1st
  • Latest Possible End Date: September 31st
Summer Intake
  • Application Deadline: February 15th
  • Start Date GREP: mid-May
  • Start of Research Project: last week in May
  • Latest Possible End Date: September 31st
Fall Intake
  • Application Deadline: May 15th
  • Start Date GREP: September 1st
  • Start of Research Project: October 1st
  • Latest Possible End Date: March 31st

Enrollment Fees which includes: 
  • ticket for public transportation for the state of Hesse,
  • free use of call-a-bike,

GREP-Scholarship: 

  • We award scholarships of EUR 850.00 per month to students from selected partner universities.

Erasmus+ Traineeship: 

  • If you study with a partner university in Europe, you are eligible to apply for an Erasmus+ scholarship (under the Erasmus+ Traineeship programme) with your home university. Please contact the international office at your home institution for more information on the Erasmus+ Traineeship programme.

International Office of Goethe University will support students in the organization of their accommodation.

The Goethe Buddy Programme supports you while you settle in in Frankfurt!

Your advantages:

  • support when you arrive (e.g. s.o. picks you up at the local train station or airport)
  • support when you have to go to authorities (e.g. registering in Frankfurt, open a bank account, arrange health insurance)
  • help finding your way around campus and the city of Frankfurt
  • improving your German language skills by actively communicating with native speakers
  • participation at events organized by the Internationaler Studientreff (IST)

  1. Kick-off Event: A central information and networking event will facilitate the start and orientation of the project phase.
  2. Orientation Week: various events and activities during the first programme week for research students: Frankfurt city tour, German taster course, intercultural training, networking events etc.
  3. Framework programme: activities and events throughout the stay in Frankfurt; programme participants can also join the activities organized by Studientreff, an orientation and support programme for international students.
