Prof. Dr. Bastian von Harrach-Sammet

Professor Bastian von Harrach-Sammet studierte als Stipendiat der Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes Mathematik mit Nebenfach Physik an der Universität Mainz, wurde 2006 promoviert und war als Postdoc außerdem am Johann Radon-Institut der Österreichischen Akademie der Wissenschaften und zu regelmäßigen Auslandsaufenthalten an der Yonsei University in Seoul, Südkorea.

Primo-loco Platzierungen für eine Juniorprofessur in Leipzig und eine W2-Professur in Passau schlug er zugunsten von W2-Professuren an der TU München (befristet) und der Universität Würzburg (unbefristet) aus. 2013 erhielt er den Lehrstuhl für Optimierung und inverse Probleme (W3) an der Universität Stuttgart. Von dort folgte er 2015 dem Ruf auf die W3-Professur für Numerik partieller Differentialgleichungen an die Goethe-Universität Frankfurt. Einen weiteren W3-Ruf an die TU Berlin lehnte er 2023 zugunsten des Bleibeangebots der Goethe-Universität Frankfurt ab. Seit dem 1.1.24 leitet er als Dekan den Fachbereich Informatik und Mathematik der Goethe-Universität Frankfurt.

Professor Bastian von Harrach-Sammet ist Vertrauensdozent der Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes (seit 2017), Mitherausgeber der wissenschaftlichen Zeitschriften Communications on Analysis and Computation (seit 2023), Inverse Problems (seit 2019), Math. Methods Appl. Sci. (seit 2013) und Inverse Probl. Sci. Eng. (2014-2021), und Mitgründer, Vorstandsmitglied und Schatzmeister der Inverse Problems International Associations e.V.
