Application with Degree from Goethe University

We are delighted that you have decided to continue your studies at Goethe University and are applying for a master's program.

The following documents are necessary for your application:

Certificates

  • Certificate of first, undergraduate-level higher education degree (typically a Bachelor's, but also Diplom, Magister, etc.)

If your degree certificate is not available within the application deadline, you can apply with a "Transcript of Records" or an equivalent document along with a calculated average grade. In the event of admission, a provisional enrollment will be granted. You can find further conditions for provisional admission to your desired master's program by selecting and clicking on the respective program on the Master's overview page or on the pages of the relevant department.

  • "Transcript of Records"

This document serves as proof of the content of your studies. It is an overview of your academic courses/modules, including (if available) a provisional average grade and the credit points (CP) earned so far. This document is typically issued by the Examination Office.

Other documentation

In accordance with the admission requirements and program-specific criteria for each master's program, additional certificates and documents may be necessary.

These typically include:

  • Proof of language proficiency, typically in English, which can be demonstrated through your school leaving certificate or a language certificate
  • Proof of subject-relevant coursework completed during your Bachelor's degree
  • Other documents such as a curriculum vitae (CV), a letter of motivation, or letters of recommendation

Please review the master's program overview page for specific details before commencing your online application. There, you can select your desired program from the list and find information regarding the documents required for each program's application.
