Study opportunities in the life sciences

The Department of Biological Sciences at Goethe University Frankfurt offers a wide range of teaching and research opportunities.

Studying at our department allows you to acquire up-to-date fundamental knowledge in a modern learning environment. In addition, there are numerous opportunities for specialization, ranging from organismic to cellular and molecular biology. You will be involved in biological research at the level of highly networked international cutting-edge research at an early stage. In addition to imparting knowledge, methodological skills, and research practice at the current state of research, we attach particular importance to providing our students with qualified support.

There are currently 38 working groups dealing with various bioscientific issues and passing on the latest research findings and methodological skills to students in their courses. In addition to imparting basic knowledge, Frankfurt places great emphasis on research-oriented teaching. The course content is therefore well-founded, practical, and in tune with the latest developments. Cooperation and networks with partner institutions in Germany and abroad provide students with a wide range of research contacts, additional scientific inspiration, and career guidance.

The Department of Biological Sciences currently offers one bachelor's program and four master's programs. In addition, biology can be chosen as a subject for teacher training.
