The faculty council is responsible for decisions on fundamental matters of the faculty. This includes, for example, the enactment and amendment of study and examination regulations, the decision on the appointment proposal of the appointment committee as well as habilitations or the statement on the strategic target agreements. In addition, the faculty council elects the dean, the vice dean and the deans of studies from among the professors of the faculty.
The faculty council is composed of representatives of all status groups of the members of the faculty council: Seven professors, two academic staff members, one administrative and technical staff member, and three students. The members of the dean's office belong to the departmental council in an advisory capacity; the dean presides over the committee by virtue of his office. The term of office of the students is one year, that of the other members two years.
