For MA Students

Current deadlines and information for STS students

The old study regulations apply to students who enrolled between 2017/18 and 2024/25, while the new study regulations apply to students who begin their studies in 2025/26.

Master Thesis

Any member of the teaching staff involved in the STS MA program who has at least a master's degree can act as supervisor of your MA thesis ("Erstgutachter"). Make sure at least one of your two examiners is a full professor of the Faculty of Linguistics, Cultures, and Arts (FB 09). Practically speaking a professor of our institute must be either "Erstgutachter" or second examiner, "Zweitgutachter".

Please search actively early on for a potential supervisor of your thesis to make sure that your project is accepted ‐ we recommend to approach potential supervisors latest at the beginning of your third semester. Note that not every member of the teaching staff is an expert for your subject.

For information on particular research interests and expertise of the teaching staff please consult the LASST Website (Lab for Studies in Science and Technology).

Study Abroad

  • Master's students may conduct a semester abroad.
  • We recommend the third semester for going abroad.
  • Courses completed at the partner university will be converted via the ECTS-System (in coordination with the lecturer).
  • It is possible to study abroad with the Erasmus Exchange Program
