Become a supporting Buddy for an international student!
You live in Frankfurt or the surrounding area, you know your way around the university and the region, and you would like to get involved? You enjoy meeting new people and would like to help international students find their way when they start their studies or their exchange semester here? You've been studying at Goethe University for at least one semester?
Then register as a supporting buddy!
This is what we offer you:
- International contacts and intercultural experiences
- Participation in events organised by the "Internationaler Studientreff" IST (excursions and get-togethers)
- A workshop on intercultural competence to prepare you for your semester as a buddy
- An opportunity to improve your foreign language skills
- A certificate for your voluntary support
This is what we expect from you:
- An open mind and an interest in the exchange with international students
- Time and willingness to support an international student over the course of one semester
- Help with orientation at the university and with study-related questions
- Support in finding out about life in Germany and in Frankfurt (such as accompanying your buddy to appointments, leisure and cultural activities, accommodation, transport)
- You should have completed at least one semester at Goethe University
Requirements for a Buddy certificate:
- Preparation for your semester as buddy with the "Buddy-Selbsttest" on OLAT
- Participation in events of the Internationaler Studientreff (IST)
- Participation in a workshop for intercultural competence
- Evaluaton of the programme at the end of the semester
