About FIERCE

About FIERCE

The Frankfurt Isotope and Element Research Center (FIERCE) is a cross-faculty laboratory facility dedicated to inorganic isotopic and elemental analysis. It is located in the Institute of Geosciences at Goethe-University Frankfurt, with members from the faculties of Biosciences and Physics as well as the Senckenberg Research Centre, plus institutions outside Frankfurt. Spatially-resolved, besides solution-based, isotopic and elemental analysis represents the key focus of our research activities in a wide range of application areas.

Short Course

FIERCE Isotope Short Course

FIERCE runs a bi-annual isotope workshop on the analysis of stable and radiogenic isotopes, trace elements in rocks and minerals by laser ablation and solution-based ICP-MS and SIMS targetet at PhD students and post-docs. Presentations comprise technical aspects of instrumentation, methods, and a wide range of applications with an emphasis on geochronology, processes on the early Earth and in the solar system, composition and evolution of oceans and the continental crust.

The next FIERCE Isotope Short Course is planned for March 2025. Information will be available from autum 2024 on.
