Welcome to the Institute of Biophysics

About us

The institute conducts research on the structure and dynamics of biomolecules and macromolecular complexes using modern spectroscopic techniques, cryo-electron tomography and computational methods. Its research focuses on key biomolecular processes including energy transformation, molecular transport and signal transduction and the further development of analytical methods.

Research

Find out what exciting biophysical topics are being explored in the institute's research groups.

Bachelor Biophysics

Biophysics is a young, interdisciplinary science at the intersection of physics, chemistry, and biology. It explores the structures, properties, functions, and dynamics of living matter.

iMOL research group

'Interfacing image analysis and molecular life science' will educate PhD students in the theory and practice of advanced microscopy methods and cutting-edge image analysis.
