SALVE

SALVE – Your Start to University Life

Starting your course at university marks a new chapter for many – exciting, challenging, and full of opportunities.

To help you settle in and get off to a great start, we offer the SALVE introductory tutorial.

SALVE stands for:

Starting Your Studies – Arriving – Learning – Integrating – Succeeding.

These five themes are the guiding principles of our tutorial, which supports you during your first semester at the university. You’ll receive helpful information about daily university life, along with practical tips on time management, study organization, and navigating the campus. Most importantly, you’ll meet other students to connect and exchange ideas with – because studying together makes everything easier.

Fun fact: "Salve" was also the greeting inscribed on the doormat in front of Goethe’s house. That doormat is now displayed in the Goethe House in Weimar. In Latin, "Salve" means something like "Greetings!" or "Welcome!" – and that’s exactly the idea behind our tutorial:
We warmly welcome you to the university!
