About

Markus Lindner joined the Department of Social & CulturalAnthropology in 2007. He integrates contemporary research with historical perspectives. His work focuses on self-representation and external representation, the political and legal situation, and the socio-economic realities of the indigenous population of North America.

In his teaching, Markus Lindner emphasizes critical and reflective questioning of historical and contemporary perspectives, as well as a multi-perspective perception of complex and often ambiguous realities of life. He places significant emphasis on "research-oriented learning" and engaging in dialogue with students.

He is a member of the organizing committee of the American Indian Workshop and the advisory board of the book series Contemporary Issues and Methods in Indigenous Studies (University of Alabama Press).
