Dr. Jonas Heller, a philosopher, historian, and research associate in Goethe University’s Faculty of Philosophy and History, has been awarded a Maria Weber Grant from the Hans Böckler Foundation.

At the Goethe University Study Congress, on July 14, 2026 at Campus Westend, students will showcase how the humanities come to life through podcasts, exhibitions and film series, offering insights into the work they undertake as part of their degree programs.

“Mit Rosenkranz und Schabmadonna. Religiöse Alltagsbegleiter der Neuzeit im Dialog” [With Rosary and Scraped Devotional Madonna: Religious Everyday Companions of the Modern Age in Dialogue] is the title of a new exhibition exploring the material world of religion, on display at Goethe University Frankfurt during the 2026 summer semester.

German perceptions of Africa continue to be shaped by clichés and stereotypes, some of which have their roots in the colonial era. Contemporary media coverage often contributes more to narrowing than broadening public understanding of the continent. The edited volume “Africa-Wissen” [Africa Knowledge] by Prof. Hans Peter Hahn and Dr. Sylvestre Kouakou takes a closer look at this phenomenon. Through transdisciplinary media analyses, the book demonstrates how particular perspectives continue to be reproduced in public discourse.
