Some evenings offer more than a meal. In Frankfurt, a handful of tables became the setting for conversations reaching from Tokyo to Kolkata, from Nigeria to South Africa, from philosophy to immunology. The Social Dinners hosted by the Foundation for the Promotion of International Academic Relations at Goethe University serve as a first taste of global science in its most vital form: personal, curious and based on exchange. 

As part of a festive evening event on April 29, 2026, Goethe University honored the remarkable achievements of highly qualified individuals with refugee backgrounds. The "Academic Bridge Program" (ABP), launched in the summer of 2025, celebrated the successful completion of its alumni.

More than 1,500 days have passed since Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022. Around six million Ukrainians have sought refuge abroad, including about 1.1 million in Germany. Four Ukrainian scholars who found their way to Germany and to Goethe University in 2022 reflect on their experiences as the war enters its fourth year.

Application for the pre-semester courses is now open to regular Goethe University students interested in enrolling in Frankfurt-focused program for visiting students from partner universities and acquiring CPs for their optional BA module.

Under the motto “Research Connects Across Borders,” the Foundation for the Promotion of International Scientific Relations at Goethe University is awarding the Goethe International Science Diplomacy Award for the first time this year.
