Course content and focus areas
The research-oriented master's program in Drug Research – a 2-semester program designed for students who have completed the second state exam in pharmacy [AMF (2 Sem for Pharma)] – is tailored to pharmacists who have successfully completed the second section of the pharmaceutical exam (state exam/university degree) and wish to gain deeper insights into pharmaceutical research.
The AMF (2 Sem for Pharma) master's program builds on the pharmaceutical competencies acquired during the state exam degree program. (In comparison to the 4-semester AMF (4 Sem for BSc) program, the first two semesters, which focus on providing essential pharmaceutical competencies, are not required.)
During the two semesters of the AMF (2 Sem for Pharma) program, students will develop and strengthen their scientific research skills through two extensive individual research internships (one of which can be completed abroad or in the industry) and, ultimately, the master’s thesis. These research-oriented modules are complemented by courses that delve into various aspects of drug research, ranging from drug design to regulatory requirements in drug development and quality control of pharmaceuticals. Throughout the program, students gain a comprehensive understanding of the entire value chain of pharmaceuticals.
With perspectives from diverse disciplines and a strong focus on interdisciplinarity, graduates of the program are equipped to serve as vital links in optimal drug research, with career opportunities in both research institutions and the industry.
