The B.A. in Humanities and Social Sciences combines a one-semester orientation phase with six semesters of studies in a specific subject. You can either directly continue these studies in one of the seven cooperating academic tracks or switch to any other subject after the orientation phase.

The orientation phase is designed to help you make an informed and sustainable choice for your field of study.

During the first semester, you’ll explore comprehensively and engage with various course formats to get to know different university (subject) cultures and career fields within the humanities and social sciences. Mentors and tutors will guide and support you as you critically reflect on the disciplines you encounter and how they align with your individual interests and skill set. You’ll gain insight into university operations and the academic system, experiencing the university as a place where you can actively contribute and grow as a student. The curriculum also includes academic methodologies, key skills, and the implementation and presentation of your own research project. Additionally, you’ll create the rest of your schedule based on your interests by selecting from regular courses in various humanities and social sciences subjects, giving you a realistic understanding of the demands and daily life of studying in these fields.
