A course in German studies prepares students for careers in a variety of fields. For students, this means they don’t have to commit to a specific career path at the start of the program. Throughout their studies, they have the opportunity to independently explore new areas of work they might want to pursue later. These fields can be experienced, for example, through hands-on training or internships.
In general, graduates of German studies can be found in the following areas:
Academic career (Master’s degree)
Archival work / documentation, library studies, publishing, translation
Adult education, literature and cultural management, theatre, work in museums
Journalism, public relations, marketing, and media
Politics and economics, tourism
The Career Service’s "What is Next?" page also provides an overview of possible career paths and fields of activity, along with interviews with alumni of Goethe University.
