Goethe University strives to further develop the Frankfurt/Rhine-Main metropolitan region, together with its regional, national, and international partners, into an integrated science hub and competitive research location. It sees itself as a reliable partner in a global network of excellent universities and non-university research institutions.

Rhine-Main Universities (RMU)

Goethe University Frankfurt, Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, and Technical University of Darmstadt have been shaping the Rhine-Main Universities alliance together since 2015, fostering ties that strengthen research, teaching, and innovation.

Frankfurt Alliance

Since January 2024, 16 research institutions from the Frankfurt/Rhine-Main science region have been working even more closely together as part of the Frankfurt Alliance in order to deepen their cooperation and increase competitiveness.

German U15

As a member of the German U15, Goethe University is a partner to Germany's leading research-intensive universities. Together, they shape excellent research, future-oriented teaching, and a strong culture of innovation.

Partner Universities

Goethe University maintains partnerships with over 450 higher education institutions in Europe and worldwide. It promotes international exchange between students, supports international research, and thereby strengthens global networking.

Frankfurt Institute for Advanced Studies (FIAS)

The Frankfurt Institute for Advanced Studies (FIAS) is closely connected with Goethe University. It promotes cutting-edge interdisciplinary research in physics, mathematics, neuroscience, and computer science.

Forschungskolleg Humanwissenschaften

The Forschungskolleg Humanwissenschaften – Institute for Advanced Studies was established in 2009 by Goethe University and the Werner Reimers Foundation as a joint institution promoting research in the humanities.
