The physics department, together with the Walter-Greiner-Gesellschaft zur Förderung der physikalischen Grundlagenforschung e.V., awards a Walter-Greiner-Prize for the best physics dissertation of the year. For this purpose, dissertations can be proposed by all members of the department. The prize money is provided by the Carl-Wilhelm-Fueck-Stiftung and the Walter-Greiner-Gesellschaft.
