Educational research often relies on the participation of individuals in empirical studies. Researchers must be particularly aware of their responsibility toward participants. To ensure the dignity and integrity of all participants and to provide special protection for vulnerable individuals it is essential that specific ethical guidelines are followed and appropriate measures are taken during the research process.
In response to this need, the Faculty has established an Ethics Committee (EC) to review and assess educational research practices at Goethe University and to support researchers in adhering to ethical standards, in line with the ethical code of conduct for practical research.
The Ethics Committee operates independently and is not subject to external directives. Its members act according to their conscience, guided by relevant declarations and conventions, as well as the legal principles of a democratic society. The Committee's role is to provide ethical guidance and to issue opinions upon request. However, the ultimate responsibility for the content, methodology, and implementation of any research project remains with the researchers themselves.
Applications can be submitted at any time. Please note that only members of the Faculty are eligible to submit applications. Kindly use the designated application form.
