Research at the faculty of physics

Research is one of the cornerstones of the department of physics. The department's more than 30 research groups are organized into six institutes. In addition to a wide variety of smaller-scale projects, which are pursued by individual researchers, there are three major research areas --- high-energy physics, condensed matter physics, and biophysics --- in which researchers from different institutes join forces. Numerous collaborations with leading groups at other institutions exist, both national and international.
