Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Which prerequisites do I need?

Biophysics is an interdisciplinary field that combines physics, chemistry, and biological sciences. As such, students should have an interest in all of those areas. However, the bachelor’s degree program in biophysics focuses on physics. Accordingly, a strong background in mathematics is recommended.

Which language skills do I need?

The bachelor's degree program in biophysics offers courses in German and English. Therefore, students should have a sufficient command of both languages. For German, students must demonstrate a DSH-2 level (which is typically achieved with a German Abitur). For English, students must demonstrate a B2 level (CEFR).

How do I prepare for the degree program?

The most important factor for success in this program is a solid understanding of basic mathematics. We recommend taking the online mathematics bridging course. Before the semester starts, you can also enroll in different pre-courses offered by the Zentrum Naturwissenschaften.

Are there any introductory events?

A week before the lectures begin, the physics student council organizes information sessions for first-year students. Attendance is recommended. You will receive useful information that will help you to organize your studies.
