An artistic and ethnographic exhibition project exploring students’ spaces of experience on the Westend campus.
The exhibition “Campus Realities”, running from 1 to 26 June 2026 on the Westend Campus, features an immersive space where visitors can experience the realities of student life through sight and sound: Artistic works explore themes such as self-awareness, belonging and marginalisation, giving a voice to critical perspectives and personal experiences that are often otherwise unheard.
The exhibition takes the form of room installations on the outdoor grounds of the Westend Campus, in the PEG foyer, and online in the form of audio formats.
A supporting programme provides additional opportunities for exchange, collaborative creation and critical discussion.
The exhibition was created as part of a two-semester seminar in the Department of Social and Cultural Anthropology, in collaboration with artists, lecturers and students from various departments. The project and the exhibition are funded by central QSL funds from Goethe University.

In the two-semester seminar project ‘CampusRealities,’ students from various disciplines use ethnographic surveys and artistic interventions on the Westend Campus to highlight the diversity of student experiences and encourage discussion about how belonging and diversity are experienced at Goethe University.
The results will be presented in June 2026 in an exhibition with an accompanying programme on campus. Campus Realities is funded by central funds for quality assurance in teaching at Goethe University (QSL funds) and by the Department of Social and Cultural Anthropology.
The results of the CampusRealities project will be on display on Westend Campus in June. The exhibition opening will take place on campus on June 1 at 2:00 p.m. (sharp).
More information will follow soon!

At the Open Atelier in February 2026, we presented work in progress, ideas, sketches and sub-projects. The focus was not on finished results, but on processes, discussions and joint further thinking. Thank you to all our guests!
Students participating in the seminar project ‘Campus Realities’ were conducting ethnographic-artistic surveys in the following sub-projects.
The results of the sub-projects were anonymised during the course of the project, artistically processed and will be displayed on campus.
Among other things, the seminar project offers a space to discuss experiences of discrimination on campus. The project seminar takes place in a mindful environment: respectful interaction, diversity of perspectives, no room for discrimination, confidential safe space.
We recommend that those affected by discrimination contact the representatives at Goethe University's Office for Equal Opportunities for advice.
You can find representatives for various diversity topics in the faculty on our diversity website.
